Truvista Fiber announced an agreement to acquire the municipal telecommunications network operated by the City of Commerce, marking a strategic expansion of its broadband footprint and a transition aimed at enhancing connectivity for local businesses and institutions.

Upon closing, the transaction will see the network rebranded and operated under Truvista Fiber. The move is designed to position the community for long-term growth by enabling access to advanced fiber-based services for residential, commercial, and public-sector users.

City officials emphasized that the decision reflects the need for a partner capable of modernizing infrastructure to meet increasing demands tied to economic development, education, and healthcare. Under the agreement, Truvista will assume full ownership and operational responsibility for the network, while also upgrading existing infrastructure using its expertise in fiber deployment and network management.

The acquisition builds on Truvista’s broader expansion strategy, following its December 2025 acquisition of SlyTel. The company continues to focus on scaling broadband access in growing communities while investing in next-generation, future-ready technology platforms.

For existing customers in Commerce, services will continue without interruption. Truvista indicated that upgrades will be implemented with minimal disruption, and additional information regarding enhancements, timelines, and customer support will be communicated in the coming months.

Founded more than 125 years ago, Truvista Fiber provides high-speed internet, voice, video, and security solutions across South Carolina and Georgia, with an emphasis on reliability and customer experience.
