Twitter Inc (NYSE: TWTR) recently announced it is buying a social podcast app company called Breaker. This acquisition will likely complement Twitter’s testing of a feature called Spaces, which features audio-based chat rooms.

Breaker is expected “to improve the health of public conversation” according to Twitter engineering lead Michael Montano. Breaker was founded by Erik Berlin (CEO) and Leah Culver (CTO).  

“We’re truly passionate about audio communication and we’re inspired by the ways Twitter is facilitating public conversations for people around the world,” explained Berlin in a statement via Reuters.

The terms of the deal were undisclosed. And Breaker will be shutting down on Friday, January 15th.
