“We knew from the beginning that cars needed video security badly. The results we’ve seen from our community of drivers in the months since launch – from catching thieves after break-ins, to helping innocent victims avoid blame in crashes – have far exceeded our expectations,” said Owl founder and CEO Andy Hodge. “With results this good in just the early days, we are clearly onto something huge. Now, with additional funding and increased production, we’re ready to turn this growing trend into something you see on every road in America.”

The Owl Car Cam started with an iOS version, but now it is also available for Android as well. Owl now offers instant video, video alerts, dual HD cameras and a live view of your car from anywhere over LTE.

The Owl Car Cam’s Instant Video Service has helped identify suspects within 24 hours:

And the Owl Car Cam has also captured crashes and near misses along with police stops. The Owl Car Cam sends video alerts to the user’s phones when it senses parking lot bumps, impacts. and broken glass. This especially helps with insurance claims. All of the video on Owl is Privacy Locked and within the Owl app so it is completely private unless customers decide to share it.

The Owl Car Cam is available for $349, which includes 1 year of LTE Instant Video. It includes unlimited Video Alerts and 60 minutes of remote making/viewing of video per month. Following the first year, users are able to renew 12 months of the Instant Video Service for $99 (or $10 per month). You can also buy 60 more minutes for $5 through the Owl app. Users can still access their video over a direct Wi-Fi connection.
