For The Record has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by Tyler Technologies for an enterprise value of $258 million. The deal is positioned as an expansion of Tyler’s Courts & Justice portfolio and is aimed at accelerating the justice process by improving courtroom efficiency and strengthening how courts capture and use the official record.

Tyler Technologies provides integrated software and technology services for the public sector, serving local, state, and federal government entities with end-to-end solutions that support efficient, transparent operations. With the addition of For The Record, Tyler plans to more directly link court recording and transcription to the case file, creating what the companies describe as a more complete court record.

The companies said the combination will bridge a larger corpus of legal data with advanced AI tooling to provide courts with improved visibility and productivity. The integration is intended to go beyond recording and transcription by linking the digital record to the case file in near real time, enabling broader stakeholder awareness and allowing court staff to spend more time on higher-value work.

For The Record is a global provider of courtroom recording and speech-to-text technologies, with more than 30 years of experience and installations in over 80 countries. Its offerings include FTR Justice Cloud and FTR RealTime, which the company says support modernization of how courts capture, manage, distribute, and use the official record.
