- Uber is currently testing out an audio recording feature in case you need to report unsafe drivers
Ride-sharing service Uber is reportedly testing out an audio recording feature so you can record an unsafe driver and report it to the company.
This tool was discovered by mobile engineer Jane Manchun Wong, who has a reliable track record at discovering features on a number of other mobile platforms. Wong successfully predicted the addition of features on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Twitter in the past.
The tool is called “Record Audio” and it can be used if you are “uncomfortable with the ride”:

This feature is integrated into Uber’s “Safety Toolkit,” which also houses a feature that allows you to share your trip status family and friends and report issues.
This month, Uber also launched RideCheck, a feature designed for detecting unusual events such as long stops or a car crash.
“When a RideCheck is initiated, both a rider and driver will receive a notification asking if everything is OK. They can let us know through the app that all is well, or take other actions like using the emergency button or reporting the issue to Uber’s Safety Line,” wrote Uber head of safety products Sachin Kansal in a blog post announcing that feature. “Our safety team may also follow up by phone to inquire about the RideCheck. In the event of a crash, we can also help expedite the insurance claims process. ”
Some of the other security features coming to Uber soon includes a PIN number to verify that users are getting into the right car. And in-app texting to 911 is also being added to Uber soon. Plus riders will be alerted if they are going to be dropped off near or along a bike route.
