Uber Technologies announced a strategic partnership with Zoox to deploy purpose-built robotaxis on the Uber ride-hailing network, marking Zoox’s first collaboration with a third-party platform. The companies said Zoox robotaxis will begin operating through the Uber app in Las Vegas starting in summer 2026. Riders using Uber may be matched with a Zoox robotaxi on eligible trips once the service launches.
The partnership is expected to expand to Los Angeles by mid-2027. Zoox will continue to offer rides through its own app in both cities while also making its vehicles available through Uber’s platform.
Unlike many autonomous vehicles currently in testing, Zoox robotaxis are not modified passenger cars. The vehicles are designed from the ground up for ride-hailing, with a layout intended to emphasize rider comfort, conversation, and shared experiences during trips.
The announcement marks a major milestone for Zoox as it brings its autonomous ride-hailing technology to a large existing transportation network. For Uber, the agreement represents another step toward integrating autonomous vehicles into its global platform as the company works with multiple partners to deploy driverless mobility services.
Zoox, headquartered in Foster City, California, is an independent subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc. focused on building a fully autonomous ride-hailing service. Uber said the partnership will help introduce more riders to autonomous transportation through its widely used app.
