UbiQD Expands Los Alamos Headquarters Campus To Support Manufacturing Growth

UbiQD announced that it has acquired a new building adjacent to its existing two buildings in Los Alamos, New Mexico.

The new facility will support UbiQD’s ongoing manufacturing expansion, provide space for future equipment and operations, and strengthen the company’s long-term commitment to growing high-tech jobs in Los Alamos.

Los Alamos County provided a low-interest loan through the Local Economic Development Act program to support the purchase. The county had also supported UbiQD’s original building purchase in 2017 through a similar economic development effort.

As part of the new loan agreement, UbiQD has committed to creating at least 10 new jobs by the end of 2028. The company also plans to continue supporting the community through outreach activities and local investments.

UbiQD closed its Series B financing in 2025 and has been investing heavily in expanding its manufacturing capacity. Since 2024, the company has increased its quantum dot production capacity by approximately 12 times and said it is now the largest manufacturer of quantum dots in the United States.

The new facility adds about 5,000 square feet of high-bay space with facilities needed for manufacturing and research and development activities. The building was previously home to Rocksmith Precision Machining, a local business that served Los Alamos National Laboratory and regional customers for more than 30 years.

UbiQD said the expansion reflects the next phase of its evolution from a research-driven innovator into a growing manufacturing company serving customers in agriculture, clean energy, and other emerging markets. The company’s continued growth also reinforces New Mexico’s role as a hub for advanced materials and deep technology innovation.

Founded in Los Alamos in 2014, UbiQD commercializes quantum dot technology developed at leading research institutions, including Los Alamos National Laboratory and MIT. The company’s quantum dot innovations are used in its UbiGro greenhouse technology, which improves greenhouse performance by using fluorescence to create a more optimal light spectrum for crops.

UbiQD is also applying its quantum dot technology across solar energy, security applications, and advanced materials. The company said the new facility and its updated online store further reinforce its long-term commitment to growing operations in New Mexico while bringing new products to market.
