UBS has appointed Samuel Duckett as a financial advisor in its Austin, Texas, office, strengthening the firm’s presence in one of the country’s fastest-growing wealth management markets.

Duckett joins UBS’s Central Region, which is led by Jon Ramey. He will report to Market Executive Tommy Stacy and Market Director Jeff Bidstrup.

He joins UBS from Morgan Stanley, where he spent six years advising individuals and families on wealth management strategies.

At UBS, Duckett will partner with Financial Advisor Will Lawes, who joined the firm two years ago. The two advisors will work together to provide clients with personalized financial planning and investment guidance.

Duckett focuses on successful individuals, entrepreneurs and multigenerational families managing the opportunities and challenges associated with growing wealth.

His work is designed to help clients move from the wealth-creation stage into long-term preservation, investment growth and multigenerational planning.

Clients experiencing significant financial success may need to coordinate investment management with tax planning, estate strategies, business succession, charitable giving and risk management.

Entrepreneurs can face additional challenges because much of their wealth may be concentrated in a privately held company or a limited number of investments.

Duckett’s background as a business owner gives him firsthand experience with the decisions entrepreneurs make while launching, operating and expanding companies.

Before entering financial services, he founded and operated several businesses. Those experiences shaped his understanding of the financial pressures, growth opportunities and liquidity considerations affecting founders and high-achieving professionals.

At UBS, Duckett will develop customized strategies based on each client’s assets, objectives, time horizon and family circumstances.

He and Lawes will also have access to UBS’s global wealth management platform and specialized resources for ultra-high-net-worth relationships.

These resources include support for clients holding concentrated stock positions, which can arise when executives, founders and early employees accumulate significant wealth through ownership of one company’s shares.

Concentrated positions can produce substantial gains but may also expose investors to greater risk when a large percentage of their net worth depends on the performance of a single company.

Advisors can help clients evaluate diversification, liquidity, tax and risk-management strategies while considering applicable restrictions and long-term financial goals.

UBS said Duckett’s experience serving entrepreneurs and emerging wealth creators aligns with economic and population growth across Texas and the broader Central Region.

Austin has developed into a major center for technology companies, startups, professional services firms and corporate relocations. This expansion has created additional demand for advisors capable of serving founders, executives and families whose financial needs become more complex as their businesses and investments grow.

Duckett earned a bachelor’s degree in business studies with a specialization in entrepreneurship from San Diego State University.

He also studied global business through international academic programs in Singapore and other markets.

That combination of entrepreneurial and international experience may support his work with clients whose businesses, investments or family interests extend across multiple jurisdictions.

Duckett’s arrival reflects UBS’s continued effort to recruit experienced advisors in key U.S. growth markets.

The firm manages approximately $7 trillion in invested assets and operates in more than 50 markets worldwide.

Its global wealth management platform offers personalized advice, investment products and specialized services for affluent and ultra-high-net-worth clients.

By adding Duckett to its Austin office, UBS is expanding its capacity to serve entrepreneurs, next-generation wealth creators and multigenerational families seeking comprehensive advice.
