UFP Industries has announced the acquisition of the operating assets of three John Rock locations — in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, Mifflintown, Pennsylvania, and Bowling Green, Virginia — for approximately $48 million. John Rock, a subsidiary of Kamps Pallets, designs and manufactures new pallets across Pennsylvania and Virginia, and the three acquired locations add approximately $82 million in annual sales and bring nearly 250 employees into UFP’s organization. A fourth John Rock location, a sawmill in Dilwyn, Virginia, will remain with the seller.
The acquisition fills a key geographic gap in PalletOne’s presence and strengthens UFP Packaging’s ability to serve national customers with a northeast footprint that the company previously lacked.
PalletOne is one of the core businesses within UFP Industries, which operates across packaging and industrial markets through an extensive manufacturing and distribution network. The acquisition of the three John Rock locations integrates immediately into PalletOne’s existing manufacturing network, allowing for immediate service continuity while providing a platform for operational improvement and long-term growth. UFP Industries CEO Will Schwartz described the acquisition as fundamentally about strengthening the core packaging business and expanding the company’s footprint in a region where it sees long-term opportunity, noting that John Rock has built a well-established operation with strong customer relationships and experienced teams.
The northeast pallet manufacturing market is strategically important for UFP Industries as it seeks to serve national customers with consistent quality and logistics support across multiple regions. John Rock’s established customer base and workforce in the Coatesville, Mifflintown, and Bowling Green locations provide UFP with both immediate revenue contribution and a platform for applying UFP’s procurement and operational capabilities to generate synergies over time. UFP Packaging President Scott Worthington expressed excitement about welcoming John Rock’s employees to PalletOne and confidence in building on the foundation the acquired business has established.
The acquisition underscores UFP Industries’ continued focus on investing in its core businesses, expanding manufacturing capacity in key markets, and strengthening the competitive position of its operating companies through geographic expansion into regions where demand from national distribution and e-commerce customers continues to grow.
