Ultra Security, a Birmingham, Michigan-based cybersecurity company focused on securing autonomous artificial intelligence systems, has emerged from stealth with $10 million in seed funding. Investors in the round include Ludlow Ventures, Hidden Capital, Entrée Capital, Detroit Venture Partners, firedrop, and FDVC, alongside angel investors from the cybersecurity and software-as-a-service industries.
Founded in 2025 by Chase Lee, the former founder and CEO of Trustpage, which was acquired by Vanta, Ultra Security has developed an agentic security platform designed to provide real-time visibility, governance, and protection for autonomous AI agents. The company aims to address emerging security vulnerabilities as organizations increasingly deploy AI systems capable of independently accessing applications, processing sensitive information, and executing tasks.
Ultra’s platform operates between AI agents and the Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and connectors they interact with. By monitoring tool calls, data access requests, and prompts as they occur, the technology enables organizations to observe and control agent activity in real time rather than relying exclusively on retrospective security reviews.
The company developed its technology during a year of stealth operations, collaborating with customers and design partners to address security challenges associated with autonomous AI adoption. Its platform is designed for organizations with varying levels of AI maturity, security infrastructure, and technical expertise.
Ultra’s security capabilities span four primary areas: guardrails, governance, observability, and connectivity. Its guardrails enable organizations to translate plain-language policies into real-time enforcement actions, including blocking access to credentials, redacting personally identifiable information, protecting health information, limiting abusive activity, and preventing unauthorized data transfers between connected systems.
Its governance capabilities allow administrators to determine which agents, tools, and connectors individual employees or teams can access. The observability functionality logs and traces agent-to-tool interactions while applying AI-native anomaly detection to identify suspicious behavior and generate alerts.
Ultra also offers a universal connectivity layer designed to work across different AI agents, models, and connectors without requiring separate configurations for each client.
A distinguishing feature of the platform is its local-first architecture, which allows tool calls, payloads, and audit records to remain on an organization’s own devices by default. A remotely hosted deployment option is also available.
The company’s security approach reflects the growing complexity of autonomous AI systems, which increasingly interact with email, software development environments, enterprise applications, and other business-critical infrastructure. Traditional cybersecurity tools, including web application firewalls, API gateways, and cloud security posture platforms, were not specifically developed to monitor autonomous actions occurring throughout active AI agent sessions.
Ultra is positioning its platform to address this gap by combining runtime protection, policy enforcement, monitoring, and alerting within a unified security environment.
The company also emphasized its compliance credentials at launch. Ultra reports achieving SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, and ISO 42001 certifications, along with AARM Extended conformance. Its security framework also aligns with the NIST AI Risk Management Framework and Agentic Trust Controls.
Additionally, Ultra has completed a FedRAMP 20x Class B audit with an accredited third-party assessment organization and is pursuing FedRAMP certification.
Ultra’s founding team’s experience includes cybersecurity and compliance companies Vanta and Secureframe. Lee previously founded Trustpage, a security collaboration and compliance platform acquired by Vanta, bringing experience in enterprise security technology development to the new venture.
With its emergence from stealth and new funding, Ultra plans to address the growing demand for security infrastructure designed specifically for autonomous AI systems. Organizations can currently request access to the platform through the company’s website.
