Ultraviolette Raises $85 Million To Expand Electric Vehicle Manufacturing And Global Markets

Ultraviolette, a Bengaluru-based electric vehicle manufacturer, has raised $85 million in funding led by Yali Capital and TDK Ventures to expand manufacturing, accelerate product development, and support its international growth strategy. The round also included an investment from Lip-Bu Tan, Chairman of Walden International and an advisor to Ultraviolette, alongside the company’s existing investors.

The financing follows Ultraviolette’s announcement of a new manufacturing facility designed to support production capacity of up to 500,000 vehicles annually.

The company plans to use the proceeds to increase production of its existing electric motorcycles, develop additional vehicle models, and expand into new international markets.

A major objective is its planned entry into the United States in 2027, alongside broader expansion across Latin America and Southeast Asia.

Founded in 2016 by Narayan Subramaniam and Niraj Rajmohan, Ultraviolette develops electric vehicles and battery technology with a focus on performance, vehicle design, and internally developed engineering capabilities.

Its current product portfolio includes the F77 electric motorcycle and X-47 Crossover, while upcoming products include the Tesseract electric scooter and Shockwave enduro motorcycle.

The company intends to direct part of the new funding toward increasing production of its existing models while preparing its upcoming vehicles for commercial launch.

Ultraviolette expects the Tesseract to launch in early 2027, expanding its product portfolio into electric scooters and allowing it to serve a broader range of customers.

The Shockwave will extend its offerings into the enduro motorcycle category, adding another vehicle segment to its existing portfolio.

The funding will also support the development of next-generation electric vehicle platforms designed for multiple international markets.

These platforms will build on Ultraviolette’s vertically integrated technology capabilities across batteries, power electronics, vehicle architecture, and intelligent software.

The company has developed battery architectures ranging from 48 volts to 400 volts, allowing it to engineer electric mobility platforms for different vehicle categories and performance requirements.

This technical range supports the development of vehicles with varying requirements for power delivery, range, thermal management, and battery packaging.

Ultraviolette also develops key technologies internally rather than relying exclusively on external suppliers for its vehicle systems.

Its engineering capabilities span batteries, powertrains, software, and radar-based safety technologies.

The company introduced radar-based safety features in its X-47 Crossover, which its investors identified as an example of its ability to integrate advanced technology into production electric two-wheelers.

The new capital will support continued development of these capabilities as Ultraviolette prepares to expand its product lineup.

International growth is another major priority.

Ultraviolette currently sells its vehicles in India and 20 European countries, including Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland, and Hungary.

The company was the first Indian electric vehicle manufacturer to secure European certification for its motorcycles, providing a foundation for its expansion across European markets.

Its planned U.S. entry in 2027 would establish another major international market for the business, although the company has not disclosed specific U.S. distribution arrangements or a definitive launch date.

The latest financing adds to Ultraviolette’s existing investor base, which includes Lingotto, TDK Ventures, Qualcomm Ventures, Zoho Corporation, TVS Motors, and Speciale Invest.

With additional capital and expanded manufacturing capacity, Ultraviolette intends to accelerate its transition from an India-focused electric motorcycle manufacturer into a global electric mobility company with multiple product categories.
