Universal Plant Services has acquired Mechanical Solutions, an engineering firm specializing in fluid machinery and turbomachinery systems. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The acquisition expands Universal Plant Services’ capabilities by integrating Mechanical Solutions Inc.’s advanced engineering, diagnostics, and analytical expertise with its own field services, maintenance, and outage execution offerings. The combined platform is designed to bridge the gap between engineering analysis and operational execution, delivering a more comprehensive end-to-end solution for customers managing critical rotating equipment.
Mechanical Solutions Inc., based in Whippany, New Jersey, brings more than 30 years of experience in testing, analyzing, and solving complex vibration, dynamics, and performance issues in rotating machinery such as pumps and compressors. The company serves a range of industrial sectors, including petroleum refining, electric power generation, chemical processing, and water and wastewater utilities.
Universal Plant Services, headquartered in Houston, Texas, operates across 14 locations in the United States and focuses on mission-critical services for downstream energy facilities, midstream pipeline stations, and other industrial sites. The acquisition marks the first add-on investment since Universal Plant Services partnered with New State Capital Partners, a middle-market private equity firm that has completed more than 50 investments.
The transaction supports a broader buy-and-build strategy to enhance technical capabilities and strengthen the company’s market position in rotating and reciprocating equipment services.
