University Of Missouri And Google Public Sector Partner To Expand AI Research

The University of Missouri is collaborating with Google Public Sector to expand access to artificial intelligence infrastructure, training, technical expertise, and high-performance computing for researchers across the University of Missouri System.

The collaboration will operate through Mizzou’s AI Education, Research and Infrastructure Center, known as AERI.

Researchers and students will gain access to Google Cloud’s AI-optimized technology stack and computing resources.

AERI brings together researchers from engineering, science, medicine, agriculture, journalism, education, and the social sciences.

The center also works with statewide organizations including MU Extension to expand access to emerging technologies.

The partnership includes four major components.

Google Public Sector will provide AI education and skills development through technology tools, certification programs, and research-focused workshops.

Researchers will also gain hands-on access to Gemini Enterprise.

Seed grants will be available to help faculty and students use Google Cloud resources for research projects.

Projects that advance beyond the exploratory stage will have access to dedicated Google Cloud engineers who can help teams develop research into grant-ready initiatives and scalable applications.

The collaboration will also connect University of Missouri researchers with industry through symposia, hackathons, and other events.

The partners said the initiative is intended to shorten the path from academic research to practical applications that benefit Missouri and broader markets.
