Unleash: $35 Million Raised For AI-Era Feature Management Platform

Unleash, an enterprise FeatureOps platform designed to help organizations control software releases in the era of AI-generated code, announced it has raised $35 million in Series B funding. The round was led by One Peak, with participation from existing investors Spark Capital, Frontline Ventures, and Firstminute Capital.

The Oslo-based company said the new funding will accelerate product innovation and support global expansion as enterprises grapple with the operational challenges created by rapidly increasing AI-driven software development. As AI tools enable developers and non-technical teams to build and ship applications faster, companies are facing new risks related to stability, governance, and operational control.

According to Unleash, research from DORA indicates that a 25% increase in AI adoption correlates with a 7% drop in software stability. Organizations are shipping code two to three times faster with AI-assisted development, but outages linked to uncontrolled feature rollouts and the absence of effective kill switches can lead to significant financial losses, service disruptions, and reputational damage.

Unleash addresses these issues through its open-source FeatureOps platform, which provides real-time visibility and control over software features in production environments. The platform enables organizations to decide which features are activated, who can access them, and how quickly they can be rolled back if problems occur.

The company said this approach is particularly important for highly regulated industries, where governance and operational reliability are critical. Its platform enables enterprises to perform controlled releases, experimentation, and immediate rollbacks when necessary.

Unleash said the FeatureOps category is emerging as a key operational layer for managing AI-generated software, giving enterprises the ability to maintain oversight while development velocity accelerates.

Since raising its Series A funding in 2022, Unleash has reported significant growth. The company said it has doubled annual recurring revenue for three consecutive years while achieving a net revenue retention rate of 140%. It has also surpassed 500 paying customers and recorded more than 40 million downloads of its open-source platform.

The company’s GitHub project has gained more than 13,000 stars, and its technology now powers billions of daily feature flag evaluations for organizations worldwide. Unleash’s enterprise customer base has expanded rapidly, particularly among companies in financial services and global retail.

Organizations including Prudential, Lloyds Banking Group, Wayfair, Lenovo, and Mercadona rely on the platform to manage software releases while balancing the speed of AI-driven development with enterprise governance requirements.

The new Series B financing brings Unleash’s total funding to $51.5 million. The company said it plans to expand its capabilities in autonomous end-to-end feature management and full-stack experimentation to create what it describes as fail-safe release infrastructure for AI-era software development.

KEY QUOTES

“When AI-generated code is in production, and something breaks, every minute of downtime costs you revenue and customers. You need the ability to diagnose, fix, and recover immediately. The Unleash open-source FeatureOps platform gives you that control, and we’ve proven it works in the world’s most highly regulated industries.”

Egil Østhus, CEO And Co-Founder, Unleash

“You’ve got engineers shipping faster than ever, but also more stressed than ever because they have less visibility into what’s actually running in production. We give them that visibility so they can still move fast, but they know exactly what’s live and can release it or kill it in seconds.”

Ivar Østhus, CTO And Creator, Unleash

“At Wayfair, code velocity has exploded. Developers are pushing huge amounts of AI-assisted code, and reviews are moving to production quicker than ever. But here’s the paradox: speed is up, but reliability is down. AI is accelerating risk because it is almost impossible for QA teams to keep up. This is where FeatureOps comes in. At our scale, a single unchecked release could cause major revenue loss.”

Kiriti Dhanai, Site Reliability Engineer, Wayfair

“AI is transforming the way and speed at which software is built, and the enterprises that win will be the ones that can harness that speed effectively. Unleash provides the control layer that allows companies to innovate faster while maintaining governance and reliability. That combination is incredibly powerful.”
