Urban SDK: $65 Million Growth Round Raised For Expanding Geospatial AI Platform For Local Governments

Urban SDK, a Jacksonville, Florida-based provider of geospatial AI software for public-sector agencies, has raised a $65 million growth funding round from Riverwood Capital as it looks to scale what it calls an “AI-powered system of action” for local and state governments across the U.S.

The company said the investment will accelerate the expansion of its geospatial AI technology, which it markets as a platform that helps cities, states, and Departments of Transportation deploy limited public resources more efficiently. Urban SDK said it works with more than 300 local government customers across 40 states, supporting use cases that range from day-to-day operations such as citizen complaint management and traffic enforcement to emergency response, including natural disasters.

Urban SDK positioned the platform as a way for government teams to consolidate daily workflows into a single system and make operational decisions with readily accessible data and insights. The company also cited the budget intensity of municipal public safety and community well-being efforts, noting that cities allocate 70% of general fund budgets to those priorities, and argued that automation and decision support can help preserve resources and improve outcomes.

Riverwood said it was attracted to the speed with which Urban SDK’s platform delivers measurable impact for public agencies and the breadth of adoption across hundreds of cities. Riverwood will support Urban SDK’s growth plans, including Eric Ma joining the company’s board, according to the announcement.
