USAA announced the launch of Honor Through Action, a long-term national initiative dedicated to advancing the well-being, financial security, and career opportunities of veterans and military families. The announcement coincides with Veterans Day and marks one of the most extensive multi-year commitments by the organization to support the military community directly.
The initiative reflects USAA’s plan to contribute $500 million over five years to programs that expand meaningful employment pathways, strengthen financial resilience and promote the overall health of military families. The commitment will bring together public, private, and nonprofit partners to develop solutions that address some of the most persistent challenges facing service members and their families as they transition into civilian life and navigate ongoing responsibilities.
A major priority of the initiative is improving career readiness and placement for both veterans and military spouses. Many transitioning service members report difficulty finding stable, long-term employment that aligns with their experience and skills. Additionally, military spouses experience unemployment rates significantly higher than the national average, often due to frequent relocations and caregiving responsibilities. The initiative will focus on career navigation support, employer partnerships, professional development, and community-based programs to help families build sustainable careers.
Another significant focus will be financial security. USAA plans to expand access to financial education, planning tools and advisory resources tailored to the specific circumstances of military life. While optimism among military families remains strong, financial stability continues to be influenced by frequent moves, deployment demands, and broader cost-of-living pressures.
The initiative will also address well-being, building on existing efforts to prevent veteran suicide and expanding efforts around mental health, caregiver support, physical wellness, and preventing veteran homelessness. The organization plans to elevate personal stories and bring public attention to the everyday realities of military life, encouraging Americans to participate in meaningful support rather than symbolic gestures limited to holidays.
USAA stated that the goal of Honor Through Action is to create sustainable impact by fostering collaboration and inspiring other organizations to join in long-term support for those who have served.
KEY QUOTES:
“For more than a century, USAA has advocated for those who serve. Honor Through Action reflects our shared responsibility to act and help the military community thrive in every aspect of life – personally, professionally and financially. Supporting those who serve is not just what we do – it is who we are. It is how we take care of our own.”
“This work is essential – not only for the military community, but for the health, strength and security of our nation. Meaningful careers empower financial security – and together, those create the foundation for overall well-being. We want USAA to lead by example and inspire others to act because taking care of those who serve is a shared responsibility.”
“The best way to celebrate veterans is to listen, act and invest in their future. That is exactly what we are doing by elevating their voices – not just today, but every day moving forward.”
