uStudio: Interview With Founder And CEO Jen Grogono About AI-Powered Enterprise Media And Workforce Communications

uStudio is an enterprise media technology company that helps organizations create, distribute, and measure secure audio and video content for employee communications, training, learning, and AI-driven workforce transformation. Pulse 2.0 interviewed uStudio Founder and CEO Jen Grogono to learn more about the company’s origins, its enterprise streaming technology, AI-powered content creation tools, competitive differentiation, and evolution from video management to a broader enterprise media platform.

What Differentiates uStudio From Its Competition

When asked what differentiates uStudio from its competition, Grogono said:

We believe AI transformation is ultimately business transformation, and it only works when people understand the changes happening around them and know how to adapt. Companies can invest in the best technology in the world, but if employees aren’t engaged with it or don’t understand how it changes their work, the investment won’t deliver its full value.

That’s where audio and video come in. People are already accustomed to learning and consuming information this way in their personal lives, but most enterprises are still relying heavily on email, PDFs and intranet posts to communicate important information.

We think of listening as a UI of choice for learning because it fits naturally into how people live and work. uStudio gives enterprises the secure infrastructure to bring that experience into the workplace, with the tools to create, distribute and measure content while keeping it within their own environment.

How The Idea For uStudio Came Together

When asked how the idea for uStudio originated, Grogono explained:

We started uStudio about a decade ago with a cloud-based video platform for media companies. But as we spent time in the market, we kept hearing from enterprises that were facing a different, increasingly urgent problem. They were becoming publishers themselves, producing more video and other media to communicate with employees and customers, but they didn’t have the infrastructure to manage it securely or get it in front of the right audiences.

We followed that demand, and it changed the trajectory of our business. One of the things that became clear to us was that the way people consume information outside of work was very different from how most companies expected them to consume it on the job.

People listen to podcasts, watch videos and learn on their phones every single day, yet workplace communication was still largely built around asking people to read another email, log in to a portal or review a document or presentation. Listen-watch networks were largely non-existent.

We saw an opportunity to close that gap. We wanted to give enterprises the same kind of accessible, engaging media experience people already enjoyed, but with the security, governance and measurement large organizations require.

That insight has continued to guide us as the market has evolved, particularly now that companies are trying to help their workforces understand and adopt AI.

Core Products And Features

When asked about uStudio’s core products and features, Grogono explained:

At its core, uStudio is a secure, API-first media platform that helps large organizations create, distribute and measure audio and video across internal and external networks. We think about the process in four broad parts: create, publish, discover and measure.

Our products address different points along that journey. Our Autocast™ turns existing written content into audio and video, giving companies an alternate way to reach people without requiring them to start from scratch.

Our secure, Spotify-like streaming applications for mobile, desktop and embedded experiences make it easier for employees to access workplace learning and communications.

Our media Hub helps organizations distribute and syndicate content, while newer AI-powered tools such as Shorts and Summaries help customers create useful derivative content from media they already own.

The common thread is that customers retain ownership of their content, and we help them get more value from it.

A company might have an important leadership message, a training session or a library of subject-matter expertise, but creating the content is only part of the challenge. People need to be able to find it, consume it in a format that works for them and act on what they learn. Organizations also need to understand whether their communications are reaching the intended audience.

We’ve worked with hundreds of global enterprise teams that use uStudio for everything from creating engaging, interactive media experiences on corporate sites and apps, to launching full-blown streaming apps that keep employees aligned around business priorities, learning and reskilling.

Our job is to help them make those messages engaging and far more accessible, useful and measurable.

How uStudio’s Technology Has Evolved

When asked how uStudio’s technology has evolved since launching, Grogono described three major stages of the company’s development:

I’d describe our evolution in three chapters, each driven by what customers needed next.

The first was video hosting and management. We built the foundation for organizations to manage and deliver media in the cloud.

Then, in 2017, we pioneered private enterprise podcasting, with Salesforce as our first client. That was an important step because it showed how audio could become a practical way for companies to reach employees with information they could consume on their own time and terms.

Today, we’re entering a third chapter in which AI is helping customers create the media itself, not just manage or distribute it. Companies can take content they already have and turn it into new formats, lengths or topics that are easier to consume, summarize key information and extend the reach of their existing material.

One decision we made early on that has become especially valuable is building uStudio as an API-first platform. That architecture allows our technology to connect with the systems enterprises already use and makes it easier for AI agents and other tools to work with our media capabilities.

Looking back, we’ve moved from helping companies manage media, to helping them deliver it, to helping them create more of it. The underlying goal has stayed the same: make important information easier for people to access and use.

Significant Company Milestones

When asked about uStudio’s most significant milestones, Grogono highlighted its enterprise technology developments, customer relationships, acquisition activity, and profitability:

Some of our most meaningful milestones have been those “aha” moments when customers embrace something we’ve built and help us see just how much it can change the way they work.

Our early work in enterprise video laid the foundation. Over time, we built a portfolio of more than a dozen patents and earned recognition from Jim Lundy and Aragon Research, first as a Hot Vendor and later as a Leader in enterprise video across multiple years. That was meaningful validation of our technology and the problems we were solving for businesses.

Moving into private enterprise podcasting in 2018 was another turning point. Audio opened up a different kind of connection: leaders could speak directly to their teams, experts could share what they knew, and employees could learn without spending more time in front of a screen. Seeing customers embrace that possibility was an important moment for us.

Earning the trust of global enterprises such as Novo Nordisk and KPMG has been just as significant. These are highly selective organizations with demanding requirements for security, reliability and integration. Meeting those standards while making the experience simple and engaging for employees is something our team takes great pride in.

More recently, our acquisition of WorkPerfectly in 2025 brought new talent and perspective into the business. And launching uStudio AI Labs, with solutions such as Autocast, has opened another chapter: helping companies make more of the knowledge they already have, including turning written content into audio people can fit into their day.

Above all, I’m proud of the team behind those milestones and the healthy, profitable business we’ve built together. We listen, we learn, and we adapt.

Profitability gives us the freedom to keep investing in our people, our customers and ideas that may take time to develop. The freedom to build for the long term is a milestone in its own right!
