UW-Madison Company Ubicept Raises $1 Million

Ubicept—a company with technology developed at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology—has been selected as one of two winners in the inaugural TitletownTech Startup Draft. As a result, the company secured a $1 million investment from the Green Bay–based VC firm.

The TitletownTech Startup Draft saw nearly 1,000 applications and the selection of Ubicept highlights the essential role of the Universities of Wisconsin in driving innovation in Wisconsin and beyond. And the link to research and development originating at UW-Madison highlights the university’s strength in translating academic discoveries into real-world solutions.

This funding also enhances the connection between academic research and industry in Wisconsin, showing how university expertise can fuel economic development and attract significant investment.

What Ubicept does: The company is developing advanced computer vision and image processing algorithms utilizing single-photon sensitive image sensors that can function in extreme lighting conditions, swiftly capture motion, and see around corners.
