Scott Tierney — who is known as the co-founder of CapitalG (formerly known as Google Capital)  — has set up a venture capital firm called Valo Ventures for investing in a brighter future. So far Valo Ventures has raised $175 million for its latest fund.

This fund — which is the venture firm’s first fund since the company launched last year — will be used for investing in entrepreneurs focused on addressing long-term environmental, social, and corporate governance issues.

The Valo Ventures team includes Julia Brady (former McKinsey consultant and group strategy director at The VIA Agency), Mona ElNaggar (former managing director at TIFF Investment Management and Morgan Stanley executive), and Subodh Gupta (former VP of Corporate Strategy And Strategic Investments at Flex, director of M&A at REVOLATE Holdings, and Evercore Partners analyst).

Before launching Valo, Tierney also oversaw the strategy and corporate development at Google Fiber and Nest Labs along with the role at CapitalG.

“Google has incredible access to photos and Netflix has incredible access to movies and recommendations, but how do you really improve marketplaces for transportation or energy?” said Tierney in an interview with CNBC. “We want to see how they can make technology users feel empowered as opposed to them being subservient to tech.”

Valo has already invested in several companies including Landit (a career pathing platform for people looking to move their careers forward) and PlanetIQ (global atmospheric data company).
