Valsoft, a Canadian company known for acquiring and growing specialized software businesses, has taken a significant step into a new industry by purchasing WSI Technologies. This move marks Valsoft’s first investment in the public safety technology sector. This area is becoming increasingly important as agencies adopt modern, cloud-based systems and artificial intelligence to improve their work.
WSI Technologies has been a trusted name in public safety and child advocacy technology for decades. Founded in 1977, the company has built a strong reputation for creating reliable tools that help protect communities and support vulnerable individuals. Its flagship products, iRecord and Nexus, are widely used by law enforcement agencies and child advocacy centers to securely record interviews, allow remote viewing, and share evidence in a streamlined and secure way. These solutions are designed to meet the strict requirements of sensitive investigations, ensuring that evidence is handled correctly and that the process is as efficient as possible.
Since 1992, WSI has been recognized as a key partner in the public safety field, earning praise for its sales and support services. The company has also received the “Premier Partner” designation from NICE Systems, a recognition that reflects its leadership, reliability, and commitment to customer success. Over the years, WSI has established strong relationships with agencies across North America, becoming a trusted provider of secure interview and evidence management technology.
The acquisition by Valsoft is intended to strengthen WSI’s ability to grow and innovate. Jim Hansen, a seasoned leader with extensive experience in public safety and child advocacy technology, has been appointed as the new President and CEO. Hansen will lead the company into its next chapter, focusing on expanding its capabilities, enhancing its technology, and continuing to deliver exceptional service to its clients.
Although WSI is now part of the Valsoft family, it will continue to operate independently, keeping its existing team in place. The company will be part of Valsoft’s Fluent operating group, which allows each business to maintain its own identity and focus while benefiting from shared resources, operational expertise, and long-term strategic support. This approach ensures that WSI can continue to develop sustainable products and maintain its close relationships with customers, while also gaining access to the tools and knowledge needed to expand its reach and impact.
Advisors/Support: Valsoft was represented internally by David Felicissimo (General Counsel), Shinjay (Ssin) Choi (Senior Legal Counsel) and Elisa Marcon (Senior Corporate Paralegal). WSI was represented by Andrew Stivers and Bryan Liu from Peak Technology Partners as its exclusive financial advisor, and Densborn Blachly as its legal advisor.
