Vantage Data Centers has completed a $1.6 billion equity investment into its Asia-Pacific platform, solidifying the company’s position as one of the region’s largest and fastest-growing digital infrastructure providers.
The investment was led by an affiliate of GIC along with a wholly owned subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority. A portion of the newly secured capital enabled Vantage to close its acquisition of Yondr Group’s hyperscale data center campus in Sedenak Tech Park, Johor, Malaysia, with planned capacity exceeding 300MW.
Initially announced in September, the transaction expands Vantage’s Asia-Pacific footprint to 1GW of operational and planned IT capacity across Australia, Malaysia, Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. The integration of the Johor hyperscale campus marks Vantage’s third location in Malaysia. It enhances its ability to support global hyperscale, AI, and cloud customers by providing direct access to neighboring markets such as Singapore, Indonesia, and Thailand.
The Johor campus, known as JHB1, spans nearly 73 acres and will ultimately support more than 300MW of IT capacity across three data centers. Located within the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone, the site provides strategic network connectivity, including dark fiber routes that link to regional hubs. The development was initially financed through a green loan and incorporates multiple sustainability-oriented technologies, including direct-to-chip liquid cooling. The campus is also targeting EDGE certification as part of its environmental and efficiency objectives.
The acquisition includes the addition of more than 30 Yondr team members who will join the Vantage Asia-Pacific organization as the company continues to scale its regional expansion strategy. With the new capital committed by GIC and ADIA and the backing of DigitalBridge, Vantage is positioned to accelerate the buildout of high-performance, AI-ready digital infrastructure throughout the region.
