Vantage Data Centers has announced a $1.6 billion investment to scale its Asia-Pacific operations, led by affiliates of GIC and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), both existing backers of the company. The funding will support the acquisition of Yondr Group’s 300MW+ hyperscale data center campus in Johor, Malaysia, and provide additional capital for further regional growth.

The Johor site, located in the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone, spans nearly 73 acres and will be known as JHB1. Once fully developed, it will deliver more than 300MW of IT capacity across three advanced data centers. The campus offers dark fiber connectivity to nearby markets, incorporates sustainability-focused features such as direct-to-chip liquid cooling, and is on track to meet EDGE certification standards. Initially financed through a green loan, the project aligns with Vantage’s broader commitment to environmentally responsible infrastructure.

Johor is emerging as a key data center hub in Southeast Asia, benefiting from its proximity to Singapore, competitive costs, and government incentives. The acquisition will expand Vantage’s APAC footprint to 1GW of operational and planned capacity across Australia, Malaysia, Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

The investment follows Vantage’s recent growth momentum and underscores rising demand for digital infrastructure in the region, driven by AI and cloud computing adoption. With the support of GIC, ADIA, and DigitalBridge—one of its largest investors—Vantage aims to strengthen its position as a leading provider of sustainable, large-scale data center solutions for global AI and cloud providers.

The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025, subject to customary conditions.
