Vectorworks, a global design and BIM software provider and part of the Nemetschek Group, announced it has acquired Morpholio, the developer of the award-winning Morpholio Trace, Morpholio Board, and Morpholio Journal apps for iPad and iPhone. The deal marks a strategic move to expand Vectorworks’ product lineup with leading mobile design applications that support architects, interior designers, and creative professionals from early concept development through documentation and delivery.
The acquisition formalizes a relationship built over years of collaboration between the two companies, including efforts to strengthen connectivity between Morpholio’s apps and Vectorworks Cloud Services. By combining forces, the companies aim to bring together desktop-based BIM and CAD capabilities with intuitive mobile tools for sketching, mark-up, moodboarding, and journaling on Apple devices.
Morpholio’s founders and team members, who are architects and designers, will join Vectorworks as part of the transaction. With the backing of Vectorworks’ resources and scale, Morpholio’s apps are expected to evolve as a fully supported and strategic component of the Vectorworks portfolio, with continued investment in product development and innovation.
Morpholio brings additional production-ready AI features to complement Vectorworks’ existing AI capabilities, as well as a roadmap focused on human-driven AI workflows across sketching, moodboarding, and presentation. The companies said the integration will help create more seamless workflows that connect ideation and execution, enabling designers to move fluidly between mobile devices and Vectorworks design files.
Morpholio Trace is positioned as an all-in-one drawing and design app offering scale-aware sketching, layers, markup, and presentation-ready imagery that integrates naturally with Vectorworks models and drawings. Morpholio Board is tailored for interior designers and stylists, providing moodboarding, product curation, and client presentation tools. Morpholio Journal functions as a digital sketchbook and notebook for capturing ideas and visuals that can later be incorporated into broader project workflows.
Vectorworks said existing Morpholio users will see no changes to day-to-day app usage and can continue subscribing to Morpholio Trace, Board, and Journal through the Apple App Store. The company also plans to introduce new offerings aimed at larger offices collaborating across devices within Morpholio Trace and Board.
As part of the Nemetschek Group, the acquisition aligns with a broader strategy to deliver intelligent, connected, and open solutions across AEC brands. Over time, the companies see potential to expand Morpholio’s mobile sketching and presentation capabilities across additional Nemetschek applications, broadening access to cohesive workflows from concept through construction.
Vectorworks said customers can expect ongoing investment in the Morpholio app portfolio, deeper integrations with Vectorworks products, and an expanding ecosystem designed to enhance creative freedom while improving efficiency.
