Pulse 2.0 interviewed Vensure Employer Solutions CEO Alex Campos to learn more about the company’s evolution, workforce technology, AI, acquisitions, and future growth strategy.

Alex Campos’ Background

Alex Campos

When asked about his background, Campos shared:

My family and I emigrated from Cuba to the United States when I was 6. That experience and the example my parents set gave me the tenacity, work ethic, and drive that have shaped my life.

Many immigrants arrive with a clear mission: learn the language, find your place, and figure out how to build a future.

I dropped out of high school and entered business at 18. I later earned my GED through night classes and took two college courses before realizing that a traditional academic path was not for me.

One of those courses was basic computer programming. I used that foundation to teach myself 11 programming languages as personal computers were beginning to take off.

From there, I gravitated toward industries that needed technology, including banking, insurance, and payroll.

One of my first major entrepreneurial successes came as Y2K approached, when I built and sold software that helped insurers, carriers and brokers prepare their systems.

Since then, I have continued to focus on technology, operations and growth through acquisitions.

My Latino roots remain an important part of who I am, and the immigrant experience continues to influence how I lead: work hard, adapt quickly and create opportunity for others.

How Vensure Employer Solutions Evolved

When asked how the company came together and about his primary responsibilities, Campos explained:

Vensure Employer Solutions was founded in Arizona in 2004 as IAM Business Solutions.

I became an investor in 2008 and by 2012, had invested about $20 million. The business was still losing money and needed more capital, so instead of continuing to invest, I offered to buy out the existing shareholders.

Over the next five years, we moved from negative $2 million in EBITDA to positive $10 million.

In 2017, we completed our first private equity transaction and began pursuing acquisitions in a highly fragmented market.

Many smaller professional employer organizations and payroll companies lacked a succession or exit plan, which created an opportunity to bring strong businesses, technology and expertise into one organization.

As CEO, my primary responsibility is to set Vensure Employer Solutions’ vision and strategy and ensure we have the people, technology and operational foundation to execute it.

That includes overseeing growth initiatives, acquisitions, product innovation and international expansion, while supporting our leadership teams as they help employers navigate an increasingly complex workforce environment.

Favorite Memory

When asked about his favorite memory working for the company so far, Campos said:

One of my favorite memories was awarding our first orange jackets at the company holiday party.

I am not a golfer, but I appreciate the tradition of the Masters Tournament’s green jacket as a symbol of achievement.

I wanted Vensure Employer Solutions to have a similar tradition, so we created orange jackets to recognize people who made exceptional contributions to the company.

We presented the first 25 jackets that night and later awarded 16 more.

Compensation and promotions are important, but I also wanted a symbol that people could feel proud to earn.

Seeing the first group recognized was a meaningful moment for me.

Core Products And Services

When asked about Vensure Employer Solutions’ core products and features, Campos detailed:

Vensure Employer Solutions provides a connected workforce ecosystem that helps employers manage the employee lifecycle.

Its solutions include HR and payroll technology, benefits administration, compliance and risk management, recruiting, professional employer organization (PEO) services, global workforce services and related business process outsourcing.

Our company combines technology with expert support so employers can simplify operations, reduce risk and scale with greater confidence.

This includes PrismHR, a technology platform used broadly across the HR outsourcing industry, as well as solutions designed for complex sectors such as staffing, sports and entertainment.

Navigating Industry Challenges

When asked about recent challenges in the sector and how Vensure Employer Solutions addressed them, Campos explained:

One of the largest recent challenges was the Employee Retention Credit (ERC) issue that affected the PEO industry after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Because claims filed by PEOs were grouped, an audit involving one claim could delay payments for hundreds or thousands of businesses.

Across the industry, the bottleneck affected more than 500 PEOs serving more than 230,000 businesses.

Clients were looking to us for answers, even though the process depended on the federal government.

Rather than wait, we engaged policymakers and IRS stakeholders and advocated for a more practical approach.

The resulting bifurcation process allows approved portions of claims to be paid while disputed portions continue through review or appeal.

That change helped remove a structural bottleneck for businesses that had been waiting for funds.

Employers also continue to face rising health care costs.

That remains an industrywide challenge and an area where we continue to look for ways to help clients manage costs while supporting employees.

How The Technology Has Evolved

When asked how Vensure Employer Solutions’ technology has evolved since launch, Campos said:

Our technology has evolved with employers’ needs.

Vensure Employer Solutions began by delivering core HR outsourcing through the PEO model, helping businesses manage payroll, benefits, compliance and HR administration.

As workforce management became more complex, we expanded our technology portfolio to give employers more flexibility and control.

Strategic investments, including the acquisitions of PrismHR and Namely, added HRO and HCM technology to our portfolio and strengthened our ability to serve organizations with different needs.

We have also developed specialized technology for industries with complex payroll rules, including sports and entertainment, where collective bargaining agreements can create highly specific compensation requirements.

More recently, Vensure Employer Solutions expanded its global workforce capabilities and invested in AI-powered intelligence and automation.

Through PrismHR, the company launched Prism Intelligence (Pi) and Vee to bring automation, insights and decision support into HR, payroll and compliance workflows.

Employers can choose the combination of technology and support that best fits their needs, whether that is a PEO relationship, an HCM platform or a model between the two.

Key Company Milestones

When asked about some of Vensure Employer Solutions’ most significant milestones, Campos highlighted:

Several milestones reshaped Vensure Employer Solutions’ scale, reach and evolution.

The first was the turnaround after I became sole shareholder in 2012, which put the company on a path to profitability.

Another was the launch of our acquisition strategy in 2017, which helped transform Vensure Employer Solutions from a relatively unknown business into one of the largest privately held organizations in the HR technology and services sector.

Our company has completed more than 100 acquisitions and continues to add technology, expertise and services through strategic transactions.

Our international expansion has also been a defining milestone. Over the past several years, we’ve grown into a global workforce solutions company with capabilities spanning more than 175 countries.

Financing has also supported that growth.

In October 2024, Vensure Employer Solutions secured a $2.2 billion financing round led by Stone Point Capital Markets.

More recently, in March 2026, the company announced an additional $450 million financing round to support additional capacity for acquisitions and technology investment.

We have also invested in specialized workforce technology and AI.

PrismHR’s recognition at No. 11 on TIME’s 2026 list of America’s Top WorkTech Companies was another milestone to celebrate.

Customer Success Story

When asked to share a specific customer success story, Campos said:

One example is FRENZY, a communications agency that moved to VensureHR from another PEO.

The relationship began with understanding the agency’s specific needs and supporting a smoother implementation.

The engagement illustrates our broader approach: we work with clients to identify the right mix of HR, payroll, benefits and service support rather than forcing every business into the same model.

We hear a similar theme from clients across industries.

By shifting time-consuming HR administration to Vensure Employer Solutions, leaders can spend more time on production, client service and growth.

Scale And Revenue Metrics

When asked whether Vensure Employer Solutions could discuss funding or revenue metrics, Campos explained:

As a privately held company, we do not disclose revenue.

We can share several indicators of scale.

Vensure Employer Solutions serves more than 161,000 clients and processes more than $153 billion in payroll annually.

Total Addressable Market

When asked about the total addressable market Vensure Employer Solutions is pursuing, Campos said:

The market opportunity is substantial and highly fragmented.

It spans payroll providers, PEOs, HCM platforms, benefits, compliance, global employment, business process outsourcing and AI-powered workforce solutions.

Even at our current scale, we estimate that Vensure Employer Solutions represents less than 2% of the total addressable market.

That fragmentation creates significant runway.

Employers increasingly want integrated technology, services and global workforce support from a single partner, while many smaller providers face succession, investment or technology challenges.

Our opportunity is not limited to one segment. It extends across the full employee lifecycle and across domestic and international markets.

Competitive Differentiation

When asked what differentiates Vensure Employer Solutions from its competition, Campos explained:

Vensure Employer Solutions’ combination of technology, workforce expertise, service breadth and global scale differentiates us.

We support employers across the employee lifecycle with HR and payroll technology, benefits administration, compliance, risk management, recruiting and global workforce solutions.

Employers can choose the operating model and level of support that fits their needs.

PrismHR is another major differentiator.

The platform powers a significant portion of the HR outsourcing industry, including many other service providers, giving us broad insight into the challenges employers and HR organizations face.

We also build for complex markets.

Our teams develop solutions for areas such as global employment, compliance, staffing and sports and entertainment payroll.

Where complexity can create barriers for other providers, we see an opportunity to apply technology and expertise.

Continued investment in Prism Intelligence and Prisma adds automation and workforce insights across HR, payroll and compliance workflows.

Future Goals

When discussing Vensure Employer Solutions’ future goals, Campos explained:

Growth remains a major priority.

We plan to continue our acquisition strategy while investing in technology, organic growth and global expansion.

We also intend to build more specialized workforce solutions and expand the AI capabilities available through Prism Intelligence.

As Vensure Employer Solutions grows, we will continue integrating our businesses and technology so clients can access a more connected workforce ecosystem.

An initial public offering could become a logical step at some point, but that is not an announcement or a defined timetable.

The Role Of AI In The Workforce

When invited to discuss another topic, Campos concluded:

Artificial intelligence is one of the most important topics in business.

Many people are concerned that AI will take their jobs, but I see it differently.

AI may not take your job, but someone who knows how to use it may have an advantage because the technology can make people much more efficient.

We saw a similar shift when Excel arrived. People who embraced it gained an advantage over those who continued relying on paper ledgers.

At this point, I am less impressed by what AI can do than by the creativity people show in applying it.

The most interesting part is not simply the technology. It is how people use it to solve problems, improve decisions, and create new possibilities.
