Verb — an Austin, Texas-based learning and development software — announced that it has raised $6.4 million in funding to expand its products and sales. This round of funding was provided by Bazaarvoice founder Brett A. Hurt, Silicon Labs chairman Nav Sooch, former tennis professional Andy Roddick, Tiff’s Treats co-founder Leon Chen, and Barshop Ventures.

Launched in 2013, Verb has 27 employees based out of Austin. And the company has raised $9.8 million in funding to date — of which $2.3 million was provided by the Graham Family Foundation and the Tingari-Silverton Foundation in 2015. This round of funding will be used for accelerating the sales and development of the platform.

How does Verb work? Verb is known for offering a SaaS platform that includes scalable leadership development training for employees in a range of sectors including human resources and education technology, according to Statesman.com. And the platform is focused on training employees on soft skills by using a blended learning model.

“We are at an exciting moment in time when companies realize that leadership development isn’t just for senior employees,” said Verb co-founder and CEO Suzi Sosa. “Our customers are unlocking the full potential of their teams offering our platform to everyone. The results they see include better employee retention, engagement, and performance.”

This round of funding will also go towards product enhancements such as personalized learning, an expanded content library, and a mobile app. Plus the company will also expand its marketing and sales team with about 10 positions in 2020.
