Verda Raises $189 Million Series B To Become Europe’s Latest AI Infrastructure Unicorn

Verda, the Helsinki-founded AI infrastructure company, has hit unicorn status after raising $189 million in an oversubscribed Series B plus additional investment. The round is led by Emergence Capital, an early backer of Salesforce and Zoom, with participation from MUFG Innovation Partners, Supermicro, Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company, Lifeline Ventures, 6 Degrees Capital, byFounders, Tesi (Finnish Industry Investment), and a group of angel investors including Ola Tørudbakken of Meta and Mark Saroufim of Core Auto and GPUMODE.

The new funding allows Verda to accelerate product development across all layers of its AI cloud, from compute capacity to platform services for frontier AI teams in the agentic era. Verda will invest in areas including inference, and plans to multiply its compute capacity over the next year. The announcement comes after the company reached $165 million in annualized revenue run rate in July.

As AI becomes critical to Europe’s growth plans, capacity has become a binding constraint on the region’s ability to compete with dominant US hyperscalers. Verda recently opened offices in London and San Francisco, with plans for further expansion across Europe, the United States, and Asia.

Founded in 2020 in Helsinki, Verda is a full-stack AI cloud company that manages everything from physical data centers and hardware to the cloud platform and AI research. The company employs around 250 people from over 40 nationalities and has raised over $450 million in total funding to date from investors including Emergence Capital, MUFG Innovation Partners, Supermicro, 6 Degrees Capital, Lifeline Ventures, byFounders, J12 Ventures, Skaala, Varma, and Tesi, alongside leading financial institutions.
