Verdantas has acquired Environmental Protection Industries, a South Holland, Illinois-based environmental consulting and remediation firm, expanding its presence in Illinois and the broader Midwest.
The transaction strengthens Verdantas’ capabilities in complex environmental remediation, brownfield redevelopment, geotechnical engineering and construction-phase environmental services. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Founded more than 30 years ago, EPI serves public- and private-sector clients throughout the Great Lakes region. The company has developed particular expertise in environmentally challenged properties in and around Chicago.
EPI integrates environmental investigation, regulatory execution, remediation and site-development activities into a coordinated delivery model. Verdantas said the approach can reduce project risk, shorten development timelines and improve cost certainty.
The company has applied its model across more than 100 redevelopment projects, helping clients manage contaminated soil, regulatory requirements and other constraints affecting urban and industrial properties.
EPI’s leadership team will remain in place following the acquisition. The team will work with Verdantas to expand into additional geographic markets and apply its redevelopment expertise across the combined organization.
The transaction adds to Verdantas’ national platform of more than 2,600 professionals focused on environmental, water and energy-transition consulting.
