VerifAIX Raises $5 Million Seed Round To Build Trust Layer For Semiconductor Design

VerifAIX, an AI-native semiconductor verification company, has raised $5 million in seed funding to develop a verification platform that independently determines whether increasingly AI-generated chip designs are correct. The round was co-led by Endiya Partners and Bluehill VC and represents the company’s first major institutional financing.

The funding will support product development, customer deployments and expansion of VerifAIX’s engineering teams across the U.S., India and Israel.

VerifAIX is addressing an emerging challenge in semiconductor development as AI tools accelerate the creation of design and verification assets. While generative systems can produce chip-design artifacts much faster, engineering teams still need an independent way to establish that the resulting designs behave as intended.

The company is building what it calls a verification trust layer intended to provide that assurance.

At the center of the platform is VerifAIX’s “Formal Brain,” a model that develops a mathematically grounded understanding of a chip’s specifications and intended behavior. It reasons across specifications, design implementations and verification assets to identify inconsistencies or missing information.

That foundation is then used across formal verification, simulation, coverage analysis, debugging and verification closure.

Rather than focusing primarily on using AI to generate additional verification code, VerifAIX combines AI reasoning with deterministic mathematical methods. The goal is to preserve traceability between what engineers intended to build and the resulting implementation while generating reproducible evidence that the system behaves correctly.

The platform is already deployed at multiple semiconductor companies on real-world verification problems, including complex control-intensive and protocol-heavy designs.

Verification is becoming increasingly important as modern chips incorporate larger numbers of components and more complicated functionality. An error in hardware can be significantly more difficult and expensive to correct after manufacturing than a software defect that can be addressed through an update.

AI-generated design approaches may increase development productivity, but they can also make it more important for semiconductor companies to independently verify that generated implementations remain consistent with their original specifications.

VerifAIX is positioning its technology as an independent layer that can sit between AI-assisted design generation and the final verification process.

The company was founded by Madhulima Tewari, Kenneth Roe and Avner Landver, bringing experience across artificial intelligence, semiconductor design, electronic design automation, formal verification and mathematical methods.

Tewari has worked across AI and natural language processing, enterprise software and semiconductor EDA. Roe has decades of formal verification experience, including building production verification infrastructure at Intel and working at SiFive and Synopsys. Landver has worked in semiconductor verification and EDA across Apple, Intel, Cadence and IBM Research.

Princeton University Computer Science Professor Aarti Gupta serves as a Founding Consultant, while semiconductor industry veteran Vin Dham, known for his role in the development of Intel’s Pentium processor, serves as Founding Advisor and investor.

VerifAIX ultimately plans to expand its platform from verification of complex blocks and intellectual property toward larger semiconductor subsystems and complete systems as AI becomes more deeply integrated into chip development workflows.

The company’s longer-term opportunity is tied to a broader shift in semiconductor engineering in which AI may increasingly generate designs while verification systems become responsible for proving that those designs meet their intended requirements.

VerifAIX plans to use the seed round to deepen its technology, broaden customer deployments and expand the engineering organization required to support increasingly complex semiconductor designs.
