Versaterm Acquires Aloft To Integrate Airspace Intelligence Into Drone Operations Platform

Versaterm, a global provider of public safety technology solutions, has acquired Aloft, an FAA-approved Unmanned Service Supplier (USS) specializing in real-time airspace intelligence and flight authorization services. Aloft powers the majority of Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability (LAANC) authorizations in the United States, serving as critical infrastructure for compliant drone operations in complex and restricted airspace. As an FAA-approved USS, the company provides the regulatory backbone that enables operators to secure flight approvals and maintain airspace compliance.

The acquisition will see Aloft’s airspace awareness and authorization technology integrated directly into the DroneSense by Versaterm platform. DroneSense, which Versaterm acquired in July 2025, is widely used for drone fleet management and situational awareness within public safety agencies. Since October, DroneSense has also been integrated into Versaterm’s computer-aided dispatch system, allowing agencies to deploy drone flights as seamlessly as dispatching patrol, fire, or emergency medical services units.

By embedding Aloft’s authorization capabilities into DroneSense, Versaterm aims to provide agencies with a unified platform to manage drone operations, FAA authorizations, and regulatory compliance. Public safety agencies often navigate fragmented workflows requiring manual processes to secure flight permissions and ensure airspace compliance. The integration is designed to eliminate those friction points, enabling agencies to operate drone programs with the same efficiency and oversight standards as crewed aviation.

Executives described the transaction as a pivotal step in advancing Versaterm’s broader drone strategy and reinforcing its vision of building an integrated public safety technology platform. The addition of Aloft adds a regulatory and compliance layer intended to transition drones from specialized tools into standardized operational assets embedded in daily public safety workflows.

The combined platform will serve not only public safety agencies but also critical infrastructure, enterprise, and government operators seeking scalable and compliant drone solutions.
