Vertical Cold Storage Acquires Second Cold Storage Facility In Dothan, Alabama

By Amit Chowdhry • Jun 17, 2026

Vertical Cold Storage announced it has acquired a refrigerated warehouse in Dothan, Alabama, from Dothan Warehouse. This acquisition represents Vertical Cold Storage’s 13th facility and its second location in Dothan.

Vertical Cold Storage is an owner and operator of temperature-controlled distribution centers sponsored by investment firm Platform Ventures. The newly acquired refrigerated facility features temperatures ranging from 34° to 50°F and is rail-served by CSX. And the facility adds cooler space for peanut producers in the region while complementing Vertical Cold Storage’s existing Dothan freezer site.

Dothan is located in the heart of the U.S. peanut production region, and the facility has a long history of supporting regional peanut shelling operations. Vertical Cold Storage’s nearby freezer warehouse primarily supports local poultry producers with services such as blast freezing, freezer storage, and export services.

Vertical Cold Storage previously acquired the Dothan freezer warehouse from Dothan Warehouse in August 2024. After that deal, the company converted the site to its standard warehouse management system and integrated it into its national network.

Vertical Cold Storage said it plans to deploy its warehouse management technology, safety programs, and food quality programs at the newly acquired refrigerated warehouse to provide customers with the same operating standards used across its broader network.

Platform Ventures is an independent private investment firm that invests through closed and open-end opportunistic funds with scalable investment strategies. The firm’s operator-oriented investment platform is vertically integrated across logistics, housing, and real estate credit. Through Platform Investments, its wholly owned SEC-registered investment adviser, the firm manages over $3.6 billion of assets on behalf of institutional, family office, and high-net-worth investors as of March 31, 2026.
