Vheda Health Secures $47 Million From Agora To Scale Health Plan Outcomes And Analytics Platform

Vheda Health has secured a $47 million investment from Agora, representing the first institutional capital raised in Vheda’s 13-year history and the inaugural investment by the healthcare technology-focused private equity firm.

The capital will support Vheda’s continued national expansion across health plans and geographies, development of new products and analytics capabilities, and targeted acquisitions.

Founded in 2013 and bootstrapped by Shameet Luhar and Philip Rub, Vheda operates an outcomes and analytics platform serving health plans’ highest-risk and hardest-to-reach members.

Its technology continuously captures clinical and behavioral data, identifies and stratifies high-risk members and triggers interventions before costly healthcare events occur. Clinical teams then use the platform’s signals to coordinate interventions with providers and health plans.

Vheda serves major managed care organizations and health plans nationally and says its platform has generated more than $975 million in savings for health plan partners.

Across its chronic care and maternity programs, Vheda reports more than 80% average monthly active engagement and an average 3:1 return on investment.

For maternity populations, members average a gestational age at delivery of 38.4 weeks, a NICU admission rate below 8% and approximately 20% lower delivery costs.

Luhar will continue leading Vheda as CEO, supported by more than 110 health specialists, data scientists and analytics experts.

KEY QUOTES:

“Vheda was built on a simple premise: when you make healthcare easier for people to navigate, you can quantify and activate even the hardest-to-reach populations and fundamentally change their health and cost trajectory,” said Shameet Luhar, CEO and Co-Founder of Vheda Health. “We have spent thirteen years proving that activation translates into measurable, defensible outcomes including more than $975 million in savings for our health plan partners and better lives for the members we serve. Agora’s investment allows us to bring that model to significantly more health plans and members nationwide. We believe the future of healthcare will be defined by outcomes, not by the number of point solutions deployed.”

“Vheda is exactly the kind of business we started Agora to back: a founder-built company that has proven it can activate the hardest-to-reach members in healthcare and bend their cost and outcomes trajectory,” said Neil Vangala, Managing Partner of Agora. “Without institutional capital, Shameet and his team built a platform that health plans trust with their most complex populations. We are excited to provide the financial resources as well as the commercial support and M&A guidance to build Vheda into a category-defining player.”
