Vision Innovation Partners has acquired Ophthalmic Associates of Alexandria, adding a comprehensive ophthalmology practice in downtown Alexandria to its regional network. The deal extends VIP’s footprint in one of its largest metropolitan markets and represents the platform’s 27th add-on acquisition since the company was founded in 2017.
Founded in 2010, Ophthalmic Associates of Alexandria provides a range of eye care services and medical treatments, including eyeglass and contact lens fittings, laser surgery, and disease management for glaucoma and cataracts. The practice is led by Jacob Clark, MD, a board-certified ophthalmologist and surgeon, and uses advanced clinical technology to support a multispecialty offering for patients in the local market.
VIP said the transaction strengthens its presence in the Alexandria area by broadening surgical and ophthalmic disease management services and expanding access to premium lenses, retinal care, and dry eye treatment. The practice will join an organization that positions itself as a managed services platform supporting ophthalmology groups and surgery centers across the Mid-Atlantic.
Headquartered in Annapolis, VIP operates a network that includes 69 locations and 12 surgery centers across Maryland, Washington, D.C., Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Delaware, with more than 150 providers delivering services that range from routine eye exams and LASIK surgery to treatment for cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and other ocular diseases.
VIP is a portfolio company of Gryphon Investors, which reported more than $10 billion in assets under management and invests across sectors, including healthcare, business services, industrial growth, software, and technology-enabled services. Gryphon said its operating model is designed to support value creation through acquisition diligence and integration planning, alongside functional capabilities across finance, human capital, and technology.
