Vivici, a Netherlands-based precision fermentation company focused on dairy protein ingredients, announced it has secured €12.5 million through the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator Program.
The funding will support Vivici’s plans to scale market access and supply for its Vivitein Ingredient Portfolio, while also advancing further innovation for customers and consumers. The company said the award represents a strong endorsement of its technology and commercial progress from the European innovation community.
The EIC Accelerator is the European Union’s flagship funding program for high-impact innovation, supporting a limited number of companies selected from a highly competitive applicant pool. Vivici was chosen after a rigorous evaluation process and an interview before a jury of experienced investors and entrepreneurs.
Vivici said the funding will help unlock the full potential of its technology and support its goal of turning precision fermentation-based dairy proteins into a commercial reality at scale. Its Vivitein portfolio includes functional protein ingredients designed to help nutrition and wellness brands develop premium products without relying on traditional dairy production constraints.
The award follows a period of rapid commercial momentum for the company. Earlier this year, Vivici launched Vivitein LF, a lactoferrin ingredient, in the U.S. market with self-affirmed GRAS status. This followed the commercialization of Vivitein BLG, a beta-lactoglobulin ingredient. Both products are made through precision fermentation and provide brands with access to high-purity dairy proteins while addressing supply and cost challenges tied to conventional production.
Founded in 2023 and based in the Netherlands, Vivici aims to make dairy protein from precision fermentation commercially viable. The company combines ingredients industry experience with biotechnology innovation to help food companies develop more sustainable and scalable protein products.
