VLS Environmental Solutions announced it has acquired IDR Environmental Services, a Los Angeles-area provider of hazardous and non-hazardous waste solutions, as the company continues expanding its footprint across the western United States.
Based in Azusa, California, IDR Environmental Services operates a strategically located 10-day hazardous waste transfer facility serving industries including manufacturing, healthcare, government, education, and commercial real estate. The acquisition strengthens VLS’ logistics and processing network in the region and adds additional waste management capacity for industrial, government, and commercial clients.
VLS said the transaction complements its existing operations across the West Coast and Southwest. The company already maintains 10-day logistical operations in Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, and Tijuana, along with hazardous and non-hazardous waste processing and logistics operations in Quartzsite, Phoenix, and Tijuana.
By integrating IDR’s capabilities into its broader platform, VLS aims to expand service coverage while delivering compliant and cost-effective waste management solutions. The combined network is expected to improve operational efficiency and support growth across multiple sectors requiring specialized environmental services.
Houston-based VLS Environmental Solutions is one of the nation’s largest private providers of environmental and sustainability services. The company employs more than 1,500 people across more than 50 locations and operates four primary divisions: non-hazardous waste services, hazardous waste services, rail services, and marine services.
Its non-hazardous waste division focuses on landfill diversion, recycling, wastewater treatment, and waste sequestration. The hazardous waste division manages the treatment and disposal of hazardous materials using technologies such as fuel blending and advanced containment processes. Meanwhile, the company’s rail and marine divisions provide cleaning, repair, and field services for railcars and barges that transport chemicals, petroleum products, and other industrial materials.
Through the addition of IDR Environmental Services, VLS expects to strengthen its operational footprint and continue expanding its sustainable waste management platform across key markets.
