Voiceflow, a Toronto-based design and development platform for voice apps, announced it raised $3 million in a seed round of funding led by True Ventures. Additional investors in this round include Product Hunt founder Ryan Hoover, Eventbrite founders Julia Hartz and Kevin Hartz, InVision founder Clark Valberg, Webflow founder Vlad Magdalin, and Fancy founder Jack Einhorn. With this round of funding, Voiceflow is planning to scale its platform and user base.

With Voiceflow, teams are able to utilize a drag-and-drop interface to design, prototype, and publish voice apps for Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant without knowing how to code. To build the apps, Voiceflow taps into third-party integrations and custom API connectivity.

And Voiceflow makes integrations as simple as it is to create the voice apps themselves. To use Voiceflow, it is free for individuals and small teams. The company generates revenue through paid monthly plans for businesses.

“With Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant enabled devices in nearly half of U.S. households, every modern business will need a well-designed conversational interface to be discoverable by voice,” said Voiceflow CEO and co-founder Braden Ream. “Voiceflow is here to make that process easy.”

Voiceflow was founded by Ream, Tyler Han (CTO), Michael Hood (CPO), and Andrew Lawrence in June 2018. There are now more than 7,500 designers and developers that utilize the platform.

“Voice is already a major development tool in the next revolution of the web,” added True Ventures partner Tony Conrad. “Every company should be thinking about voice-activated navigation and voice apps that enable conversational discovery. Voiceflow’s intuitive development tool for creating voice apps without coding skills is bridging us to this future. We’re thrilled to partner with the Voiceflow founders and their team.”
