Voly Acquires Oceanskies As Superyacht Platform Expands To 10,000+ Crew And 1,700 Vessels

Voly has acquired Oceanskies, bringing together two superyacht crew employment, payroll and compliance businesses and expanding the number of crew administered across the Voly platform to more than 10,000.

Oceanskies administers employment for approximately 5,000 yacht crew members across owners and management companies and operates from Guernsey, Jersey, Malta and the U.K.

Combined with Voly Crew, the acquisition creates a broader offering spanning crew employment, payroll, payments, hours-of-rest monitoring and compliance.

The transaction is Voly’s fourth acquisition since 2023.

Previous deals included Pinpoint Works in February 2023, Voyonic Crewing in September 2024 and Workrest in December 2024. Voyonic now operates as Voly Crew.

Voly is building a unified technology platform covering financial management, accounting, payments, charter administration, refit and project management, crew employment, payroll and compliance.

The company sees a significant digitization opportunity across the global superyacht industry.

Voly estimates the fleet spends approximately €30 billion to €40 billion annually across building, operations, refitting and chartering, while specialized software reaches fewer than one-fifth of the world’s yachts.

The company said many yachts continue to rely on spreadsheets and separate single-purpose applications even as regulatory requirements around labor, anti-money laundering and emissions reporting increase.

Voly’s strategy is to consolidate those workflows into a single system, with digitization and AI-powered automation playing increasingly important roles.

Oceanskies clients are expected to experience little immediate change as integration begins.

Voly said the longer-term goal is to combine Oceanskies’ specialist employment and registration expertise with its broader technology platform.

Voly also indicated that additional acquisitions are in its pipeline.

The company currently serves more than 1,700 vessels globally and employs more than 200 people. It is backed by private equity firm Magenta Partners, which acquired a controlling interest in Voly in 2021.

KEY QUOTES:

“Their expertise in crew employment, payroll and registration is exceptional, and they join a Voly Crew team that already carries decades of experience. Between us, I do not believe there is better knowledge anywhere in yachting.”

“This is another step in consolidating a fragmented industry into one dashboard and one solution that serves every part of the yachting ecosystem. We have further acquisitions in the pipeline.”

Ian Flanagan, Founder And CEO Of Voly

“I am immensely proud of what my fellow directors, our team and I have built at Oceanskies over thirteen years. This feels like exactly the right moment to join a larger business.”

Duncan Swanson, Co-Founder Of Oceanskies

“Oceanskies is the most significant of the four. It brings a high-quality recurring revenue base, deepens an already strong position in crew services, and takes Voly close to a proposition no competitor in yachting can match.”
