Vontier has acquired EKOS, a cloud-connected fleet, fuel, and electric vehicle management software company, expanding its ability to provide commercial fleet operators with an integrated platform spanning fueling infrastructure, vehicle management, EV charging, and operational software.
The acquisition builds on an existing relationship between the companies. Vontier already offers EKOS as a preferred fuel management software solution for fleet customers, integrating the platform with Vontier’s fueling equipment and turnkey infrastructure solutions.
Bringing EKOS directly into Vontier is expected to deepen that integration and create a more comprehensive operating layer connecting hardware and software across commercial fleet operations.
EKOS gives fleet operators centralized visibility into fuel procurement, fueling site operations, fleet assets, fuel card controls, and EV charging infrastructure through a single connected platform.
The company says its technology is used by thousands of businesses and supports more than 1.2 million vehicles across the U.S.
By consolidating multiple fleet-management functions into one system, EKOS is designed to help operators reduce costs, improve efficiency, and scale their businesses without adding additional layers of operational complexity.
The acquisition also strengthens Vontier’s position as commercial fleets increasingly operate across multiple energy sources.
Rather than managing gasoline, diesel, electric charging, fleet maintenance, asset tracking, and payments through separate systems, operators are increasingly seeking technology that can provide a unified view across the entire fleet.
EKOS has built its EKOSystem around that challenge.
The company describes a complete fleet operating system as requiring integration across eight major layers: hardware, communications, alarms, integrations, service, support, software, and centralized reporting.
Combining EKOS with Vontier’s existing technology and infrastructure portfolio is intended to provide broader coverage across those layers.
For Vontier, the deal also supports a larger strategy of connecting physical mobility infrastructure with cloud software, data, automation, and multi-energy technologies.
The company operates across an evolving mobility ecosystem in which commercial fleets must simultaneously manage traditional fueling infrastructure and newer technologies such as EV charging.
That transition is increasing operational complexity for fleet managers, particularly organizations managing large numbers of vehicles, fueling sites, cards, charging stations, and other assets.
EKOS provides Vontier with a software layer designed to bring those elements together.
The platform includes capabilities covering bulk fuel procurement, fuel site management, maintenance, vehicle and asset tracking, fuel card controls, charging infrastructure, and centralized reporting.
Vontier believes the combination can help customers optimize fleet performance while providing greater visibility across their operations.
The deal could also create opportunities to more tightly integrate Vontier’s physical equipment and services with EKOS software, potentially allowing fleet customers to manage infrastructure and operational data through a more unified environment.
EKOS is headquartered in Wilmington, North Carolina.
The company also states that its platform powers more than 2 million connected vehicles and manages more than 1 billion gallons of fuel annually across its broader North American customer base.
The acquisition positions Vontier to serve fleet customers as traditional fuel management increasingly converges with software, automation, connected infrastructure, and electric mobility.
