W4 Games has raised $18 million in Series B funding to expand its international team, accelerate development of its enterprise technology and support growing commercial adoption of the open-source Godot Engine. The round was led by Tencent, with participation from OSS Capital, Lux Capital, Naval Ravikant and Tobias Lütke’s family office.
The financing brings W4 Games’ total funding to $33 million.
W4 Games also signed a multi-year strategic partnership with Tencent focused on expanding the company’s business and the broader Godot ecosystem in Asia.
Under the partnership, W4 Games and Tencent will work together on go-to-market initiatives, localization, ecosystem development, advocacy and market development aimed at increasing Godot adoption among enterprises, game studios and developers throughout the region.
W4 Games was founded by core Godot developers and contributors to provide commercial technology, cloud services, professional support and other tools for studios building games with the open-source engine.
The company plans to use the Series B financing to increase its international workforce by approximately 50% and continue expanding its enterprise products.
Godot is an MIT-licensed open-source game engine stewarded by the independent nonprofit Godot Foundation.
W4 Games said Godot adoption has increased substantially over the past several years. According to SteamDB data cited by the company, the number of games built with Godot and published on Steam grew more than 50% year-over-year in both 2024 and 2025.
W4 Games’ analysis of Gamalytic data also found that the number of Godot-built games generating more than $1 million in annual sales increased from two to more than 50 during the past three years.
The company also pointed to growing adoption among younger developers. Godot’s share of submissions to events including Global Game Jam and GMTK Game Jam increased from approximately 10% in 2022 to 50%.
W4 Games plans to continue contributing technology created through its enterprise work back to the Godot project when possible, allowing improvements developed for commercial customers to benefit the broader open-source community.
