WAGO Group has appointed Björn Twiehaus as chief executive officer, effective September 15, 2026, as the family-owned electrical interconnection and automation technology company prepares for its next phase of growth.
Twiehaus will succeed Jürgen Koopsingraven, who has served as interim CEO while continuing in his role as chief financial officer. Following the transition, Koopsingraven will again focus fully on his CFO responsibilities.
The appointment completes WAGO’s Management Board and provides the company with a permanent chief executive as it pursues further international expansion, innovation and business development.
Based in Minden, Germany, WAGO develops electrical interconnection and automation technologies used across industrial, building and infrastructure applications.
The company is known for pioneering spring pressure connection technology, an alternative to conventional screw-based electrical connections. WAGO has since grown into a major international provider of connection and automation products.
Twiehaus, 48, brings extensive leadership experience from the electronics, automotive supply and mechatronics industries.
He most recently served as CEO of the Marquardt Group, a global, family-owned mechatronics company. That experience gives him familiarity with leading a technology-focused organization operating under a family ownership structure.
Before joining Marquardt, Twiehaus spent more than two decades in leadership positions at automotive supplier FORVIA HELLA.
He served on FORVIA HELLA’s Management Board and was responsible for its Electronics business division beginning in 2020.
In that position, Twiehaus helped drive profitable growth by positioning the business around industry trends, including electric mobility, autonomous driving, and vehicle connectivity.
These areas require sophisticated electronics, sensors and control systems, providing Twiehaus with experience managing technology businesses serving rapidly evolving international markets.
He studied mechanical engineering in Osnabrück and also completed a degree in business administration.
WAGO expects his combination of technical knowledge, commercial leadership and international growth experience to support the company’s long-term development.
As CEO, Twiehaus will be responsible for guiding WAGO’s broader strategy while maintaining its focus on product quality, reliability, innovation and customer relationships.
His background at both Marquardt and FORVIA HELLA also provides experience managing global operations, technology development and customer requirements across complex industrial supply chains.
WAGO’s shareholders emphasized that Twiehaus shares the values associated with the company’s family-owned structure.
The company said its ownership model allows it to make decisions with a long-term, generational perspective rather than focusing exclusively on short-term financial results.
WAGO also identified its close relationships with employees and customers as important components of its stability and competitive position.
Twiehaus will lead approximately 9,000 employees worldwide as WAGO continues developing its connection and automation technology portfolio.
His appointment gives the company an executive with experience commercializing technologies connected with several major industrial trends while managing international growth.
KEY QUOTES:
“First of all, I would like to thank Jürgen Koopsingraven, who has successfully led WAGO while serving as both CEO and CFO with great dedication and will now be able to fully focus on his responsibilities as CFO again. As a family-owned company, we think in generations, not in quarters. This stability, together with our closeness to our employees and customers, is what makes us strong. We are delighted to have found in Björn Twiehaus a leader who shares our values as a family business and combines deep technological expertise with international growth experience.”
Christian Hohorst, Shareholder and Member of the Supervisory Board of WAGO Group
