Weatherford Capital has appointed Michael Pantilione as a Partner, adding a veteran technology investor to the senior leadership of the firm’s Flagship strategy. Pantilione will work alongside Managing Partner and Co-Founder Will Weatherford and Partner and Co-Founder Sam Weatherford across investment strategy, team management, portfolio oversight, and the strategy’s investment committee.
The Flagship strategy focuses on established markets where regulation and governance meaningfully shape how businesses operate, grow, and evolve. Weatherford Capital said Pantilione will contribute across sourcing, evaluation, execution, portfolio management, and investment strategy, with particular attention to opportunities where technology can improve important processes and change how products and services are delivered.
Pantilione joins Weatherford Capital from LLR Partners, a lower-middle-market private equity firm focused on software and technology-enabled businesses. During more than 20 years at LLR, he progressed from summer intern to Partner and worked with enterprise software companies on growth and scaling initiatives.
His board experience includes Dizzion, eLocal, Magaya, PCS Software, Relay Network, SMG, and SparkPost, as well as observer roles at CollabNet and CoreDial. Pantilione earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Weatherford Capital was founded in 2015 and invests across technology, business and consumer services, sports, and public-sector markets. The firm emphasizes sectors where public policy, regulation, or governance influences market structure, giving the Flagship strategy a framework that combines traditional growth investing with a focus on institutional and regulatory complexity.
Pantilione’s promotion gives Weatherford another senior investor focused on sourcing, evaluating, and supporting businesses within the firm’s flagship strategy. His background across private markets and direct investing is expected to contribute to portfolio construction as Weatherford continues deploying capital.
