WeatherPromise: $12.8 Million Series A Raised To Scale Weather Guarantees Across Travel And Events

By Amit Chowdhry ● Jan 13, 2026

WeatherPromise, a technology company that offers “weather guarantees” for travel and outdoor experiences, announced it closed a $12.8 million Series A financing round that was more than three times oversubscribed, bringing total investment in the company to more than $22 million.

The round was led by Maveron, the consumer-focused venture capital firm co-founded by Howard Schultz and Dan Levitan. WeatherPromise said additional participants included 1Sharpe, Lerer Hippeau, Clocktower Ventures, Commerce Ventures, MS Transverse, Start Ventures, 1Flourish, and Mark Okerstrom, the former CEO of Expedia Group.

WeatherPromise positions its product as a demand driver for travel, event, and recreation companies by giving consumers confidence to book trips and activities without worrying about weather risk. The company said it refunds consumers the cost of their trip if the weather is worse than what was promised, with guarantees tailored to each trip or event through its proprietary AI engine. WeatherPromise added that the platform automatically issues refunds when conditions fail to meet the guarantee.

The company said major travel brands already use WeatherPromise, naming Marriott, Expedia, JetBlue, Invia, and HomeToGo as partners. In 2025, WeatherPromise said it guaranteed weather for trips to 95 countries across six continents, and it is expanding beyond vacations into categories such as concerts, sporting events, golf, and other outdoor activities.

WeatherPromise said the new capital will be used to accelerate product development, expand strategic partnerships, and scale the platform across additional consumer categories. As part of Maveron’s investment, Dan Levitan will join WeatherPromise’s board of directors.

WeatherPromise said it operates with a global team and offices in the United States and Germany.
