How Toronto-Based Webware Helps Small Businesses Achieve Online Success

Webware.io is a Toronto-based company that works with small businesses to achieve online success that was founded by CEO Cory York and CTO Indrajit Chowdhury. To further build on this model, Webware.io has raised $2 million in strategic funding from a group of investors led by Mossco Capital founder and CEO Moss Kadey.

What does Webware.io do? Webware.io has built a digital toolkit that is designed to help small businesses easily navigate online. And its technology is used by companies like IBM, Kernels Popcorn, and Staples Canada. There are more than 10,000 businesses across 400 cities in North America that use Webware.io. The toolkit includes a website and e-commerce platform, social media management tools, email marketing tools, blogging tools, search engine optimization (SEO) guidance, reputation management, etc.

Kadey is considered a strategic investor who specializes in consumer goods, real estate, and technology. He has worked with brands including Bumble and bumble and BECCA Inc. (both sold to Estée Lauder), Oribe Hair Care (sold to Kao USA), and the North/South American Brita business (sold to The Clorox Company). Gluskin Sheff + Associates (top wealth management company in Canada) founders Ira Gluskin and Gerald Sheff also participated in this round.

“An investment of this size from some of the industry’s pre-eminent financiers underscores their confidence in our vision. It also gives us the ability to further strengthen our platform and provide small businesses with a solution that will take their operations to the next level,” said York. “We’re excited by what we have achieved so far, and this brings us even closer to realizing our strategic goals.”

This round of funding will enable Webware.io to build on its recent momentum, including the launch of strategic bricks-and-mortar partnership with Staples Canada. Plus the funding will help the company grow its rapidly expanding presence with small businesses across North America.

“To succeed, small business owners must harness the power of online technology to build deeper connections with their customers and establish a robust e-commerce channel,” added Kadey. “The Webware.io digital toolkit is uniquely suited to help them do this, and we look forward to helping the company enter the next stage of growth.”
