Welcome Technologies — a certified B-corporation that connects immigrants and their families to services for improving their lives — announced it closed its Series A at $8 million and added half of Tinder’s founding team to its organization. This round of funding was led by Crosscut Ventures. And the funding further increases the company’s momentum — which has grown its membership to nearly 2 million immigrants.
This round of funding will help drive the company’s ability to build on its digital offerings for immigrant communities thus creating the first operating system for immigration.
The mission of the company and the results achieved has attracted a number of talent to join the team, including Joe Munoz, technical founder of Tinder; Christopher Gulczynski, founder and former CCO of Tinder and Bumble, Rene Garcia, former Financial VP at USAA; and Gavin Hewitt, one of Hulu’s founding team members;
The Welcome team is led by Chairman Raul Lomeli-Azoubel, former VP at Wells Fargo Bank and Chairman of the Board of Directors for MALDEF as well as CEO; and Amir Hemmat, former public policy advisor turned tech entrepreneur.
Welcome has established distribution channels, allowing them to reach over 9 million immigrants a year and achieve an unparalleled level of engagement and trust with this hard to reach segment of the population. By utilizing data garnered from these engagements, Welcome Technologies has built products and AI powered services across affordable healthcare, micro-loans, educational resources, etc.
