Wellinks has closed its first Series B round, raising $10 million from UMass Memorial Health and existing investors to accelerate commercial growth of its predictive cardiopulmonary care platform.
The investment expands on Wellinks’ multiyear relationship with UMass Memorial Health and will support broader deployment of its remote monitoring and virtual care technology.
Wellinks’ FDA-cleared Spire Remote Patient Monitoring System is designed to identify physiological changes associated with clinical deterioration so clinicians can intervene before a patient’s condition worsens.
Wellinks and UMass Chan Medical School previously collaborated on the Healthy at Home program for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
The study found participants had more than 60% lower odds of hospital readmission within 30 days, along with trends toward fewer emergency department visits and shorter hospital stays compared with similar patients who did not participate.
Wellinks plans to use the Series B proceeds to expand into broader and more diverse populations, including underserved and rural communities.
The company will also use its growing real-world clinical dataset to improve predictive decision support and expand its care model into additional cardiopulmonary conditions, including congestive heart failure.
Wellinks said its Health Tags can passively monitor patients and identify signals of clinical deterioration as much as one week before patients notice symptoms.
KEY QUOTES:
“Our continued collaboration with Wellinks reflects a shared commitment to advancing proactive, data-driven care. Together, we’re generating real-world clinical evidence that supports better outcomes for patients and informs the future of cardiopulmonary care.”
Dr. Eric Dickson, CEO of UMass Memorial Health
“This investment represents validation of the solution we’ve built and the outcomes it delivers. Our approach aims to close care gaps for patients, including those at risk for poor adherence, leading to lower healthcare utilization and a reduced cost of care.”
Jennifer Barretta, Chief Operating Officer and Interim CEO of Wellinks
