- WhatsApp has announced a new feature to help fact-check the information associated with forwarded messages
WhatsApp has added a feature to help fact-check the information associated with forwarded messages. The two arrows will let people know when they have received a message that was not written by their contacts.
This year, WhatsApp had set limits on how many times forwards can be sent at once. The Search the Web feature on WhatsApp is being piloted as a way to search for messages that were forwarded many times. And this helps people find news results and other information about the content that was received.
The icon associated with this feature is a magnifying glass button that appears next to the chat. And the feature works by enabling users to upload a message through their browser without WhatsApp having to ever see the message.
The Search the web feature is being rolled out now in Brazil, Italy, Ireland, Mexico, Spain, UK, and the US for those who are running the latest versions of WhatsApp for Android, iOS, and WhatsApp Web.
