Whirlpool has taken a series of large balance-sheet and liquidity actions totaling approximately $5.1 billion across an equity offering, secured bonds and a credit facility as the appliance maker works to eliminate near-term refinancing risk and preserve cash during a difficult housing and appliance demand environment.
The actions consist of a $1.1 billion equity offering, $2 billion of secured bonds and a $2 billion credit facility. Whirlpool said the financing measures address its 2026 and 2027 maturities, increase near-term liquidity and provide greater financial flexibility.
Whirlpool has also suspended its common dividend as part of its cash-preservation strategy. The company estimated the annualized impact of the dividend suspension at approximately $200 million based on the post-reset second-half 2025 dividend rate.
Capital allocation is now centered on organic investment and debt reduction. Whirlpool plans approximately $400 million of 2026 capital expenditures and roughly 100 new product launches, while share repurchases and mergers and acquisitions are not priorities for the year. The company continues to target long-term net debt leverage of approximately 2x.
The balance-sheet actions are occurring alongside a significant commercial reset. Whirlpool implemented a promotional pricing increase of more than 10% beginning in April and an additional approximately 4% list-price increase effective in July, describing the changes as its largest pricing increase in more than a decade.
New products are also generating measurable market-share gains. Whirlpool’s Q2 earnings presentation shows the KitchenAid new kitchen suite delivering roughly 20% year-over-year brand-share growth, while the Whirlpool UV Laundry Tower generated approximately 10 percentage points of Laundry Tower share growth. Maytag top-load washers contributed about one percentage point of laundry share growth.
Whirlpool is simultaneously targeting more than $150 million of 2026 cost reductions through vertical integration, automation, manufacturing and logistics footprint optimization, strategic sourcing and corporate fixed-cost actions.
For 2026, Whirlpool expects approximately $15 billion of organic net sales excluding India, an ongoing EBIT margin of roughly 4% and more than $300 million of free cash flow. Its longer-term mid-cycle targets include approximately $16.3 billion of annual organic sales, a 9% ongoing EBIT margin and free cash flow equal to approximately 7% of sales.
