White & Case announced that David Makso has joined the firm’s New York office as a partner in its Global Tax Practice and Investment Funds Practice. The addition further strengthens the firm’s ability to advise international sponsors and corporate clients on complex cross-border transactions and fund formation matters.
Makso focuses his practice on the tax aspects of fund formation and also brings extensive experience advising clients on tax issues arising from capital markets, leveraged finance, and project finance transactions. His expertise includes inbound and outbound tax structuring, providing clients with guidance across a broad range of financing and investment activities.
White & Case said tax considerations are becoming increasingly important as clients navigate a more complex environment for fund formation. The firm expects Makso to play a key role in supporting transformative matters across multiple practices and geographies as clients deploy capital globally.
Makso joins White & Case from Foley & Lardner, where he served as a partner. Prior to that, he spent more than six years as a partner at Paul Hastings. His arrival also reunites him with London-based partners Arun Birla and Jiten Tank, with whom he previously worked for 17 years.
The appointment is part of White & Case’s broader expansion of its Global Tax Practice. Since the beginning of 2025, the firm has added partners in Mexico City, London, Paris, and Washington, D.C., reflecting its continued investment in delivering cross-border tax and fund formation capabilities to clients worldwide.
