White & Case has added Timothy Clark as a partner in New York, expanding its Global Investment Funds Practice and Global Private Capital Industry Group as it continues to build its private capital capabilities.
Clark joins White & Case from Mayer Brown, where he served as Global Head of Private Funds & Investment Management.
He brings more than three decades of experience advising private equity firms, private credit managers, sovereign wealth funds and other institutional investors across a wide range of fund and investment management matters.
Clark’s practice includes private fund formation, investment adviser mergers and acquisitions, investments in private funds and secondary transactions.
He also advises clients on regulatory matters affecting asset managers and investment firms, including issues arising under the Investment Company Act and the Investment Advisers Act.
His fund formation work gives him experience helping sponsors structure and launch investment vehicles across private markets, while his adviser M&A practice covers transactions involving investment management businesses and their ownership structures.
Clark also advises institutional investors on private fund commitments and other investments, providing counsel on transaction terms, governance rights and related regulatory considerations.
His secondaries experience is particularly relevant as private markets investors and fund sponsors increasingly use secondary transactions to generate liquidity, rebalance portfolios and extend ownership periods for selected assets.
The addition strengthens White & Case’s ability to advise clients across both the formation and transaction sides of private capital, including managers raising new funds, investors deploying capital and firms pursuing strategic transactions involving asset management businesses.
Clark’s regulatory background adds another dimension to the practice as private fund managers face increasingly complex compliance and structural requirements.
His arrival is part of a broader expansion of White & Case’s private capital platform.
The firm has recently added partners across New York, Washington, London, Houston, Stockholm, Paris and Tokyo, strengthening its ability to advise private equity, private credit and other alternative asset management clients across major financial markets.
By adding Clark in New York, White & Case is further expanding its senior investment funds capabilities while deepening its bench across fund formation, adviser transactions, secondaries and financial regulation.
