White & Case has hired a four-partner life sciences IP litigation team from A&O Shearman, adding trial-focused patent litigators Elizabeth Holland, Nicholas Mitrokostas, William James, and Daniel Margolis to its Global Intellectual Property Practice and Global Life Sciences and Healthcare Industry Group.
The group will continue working from their existing bases in New York, Washington, D,C and Boston. Holland is joining White & Case as head of its Global Life Sciences IP Litigation Practice, while Mitrokostas will serve as co-head of the firm’s Global Life Sciences and Healthcare Industry Group.
White & Case said the team brings a combined focus on high-stakes patent litigation, trade secrets and licensing disputes, and noted the partners have worked together for nearly two decades representing pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device companies in complex matters, including Hatch-Waxman and BPCIA litigation.
The move marks another senior departure from A&O Shearman, which was formed in May 2024 through the merger of Allen & Overy and Shearman & Sterling.
