ABB announced it has entered into an agreement to acquire Høglund, a marine automation specialist headquartered in Tønsberg, Norway. The acquisition will expand ABB’s automation offering for marine customers and support growth across a wide range of vessel segments.

The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026, subject to customary regulatory approvals. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Høglund is currently owned by Eitzen Group and will be integrated into ABB’s Marine & Ports division. The transaction includes Høglund’s global operations, which include more than 80 employees in Norway, Poland, Romania, and China.

Høglund offers an Integrated Automation System designed for modern vessels. The modular and scalable system handles automation, monitoring, and control tasks on board ships. The solution combines data from engines, power generators, and cargo systems to help improve safety, energy efficiency, and overall operational performance.

Høglund’s system is based on ABB’s 800M and S800 control system hardware platform and is currently installed on more than 600 vessels. The company reported revenue of nearly €30 million in 2025.

ABB said the acquisition will complement its existing automation portfolio with proven and scalable marine automation solutions. Following the transaction, Høglund customers are expected to benefit from ABB’s larger geographic footprint, automation and service expertise, and global support capabilities.

ABB is a global technology company focused on electrification and automation. The company has more than 140 years of history and about 110,000 employees worldwide. ABB’s shares are listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange and Nasdaq Stockholm.
